Using an antenna saves me about sixty dollars a year because it gives me the freedom from paying my satellite provider to receive local channels. In addition, an antenna is a source of comfort for me and my wife because we live in an area that has experienced tornadoes in the past. The antenna guarantees a signal that the satellite doesn't. Should we lose power then an antenna on a portable TV could help us monitor the weather.
