The Bottom Line

When considering quality and features, I find that the Toshiba REGZA HL3267 is priced below what I would expect. The cost might surprise you when you see REGZA’s selling for hundreds less than similar products from Samsung, Sony and Sharp.

If you’re looking for a high quality, sub-$650 32” LCD panel then I definitely recommend looking at the REGZA line of Toshiba LCDs. The 32HL67 is part of Toshiba's 2007 line of REGZA high definition televisions so you should be able to get a good deal on one. Compare Prices.

  • You may be able to find a better deal on the 2007 version. Compare Prices
  • HDMI/HDCP (3), component (2), RCA (1 side, 1 back w/ S-Video), RF (1), RGB 15-pin (1), L/R audio output (1)

  • The three HDMI inputs accept 1080p sources but the panel displays them at 720p. All HDMI inputs are HDCP compliant.
  • No Picture-in-Picture.
  • Built-in ATSC, QAM and NTSC tuners.
  • According to Toshiba, the 3rd generation PixelPure runs at 333Mhz with 14 bit internal processing for 12 bit output.
  • Not impressed with the TheaterWide picture modes. Images got cut off. Not good at resizing 4:3 to 16:9.
  • Auto aspect ratio feature that automatically adjusted 16:9 to 4:3 was good. I also liked it in the Elite PRO-950HD.
  • There are two pages of codes to program other devices into the remote control.

Guide Review - Toshiba REGZA 32" LCD HDTV - Model 32HL67

The 32HL67US is a variation of the 32HL67, so in this review I’ll just refer to the panel as 32HL67.

Out of the Box: The 32HL67 is no different than other flat panels. You must attach the stand to the panel if you’re not wall mounting the unit. The base of the TV stand is boomerang shaped. It connects to the panel via a metal support. It’s an odd arrangement but once assembled it is sturdy.

User Instructions: Toshiba includes plenty of user instructions with pictures. The user manual is excellent. It's actually one of the better manuals I’ve seen and it’s easy to comprehend.

Remote Control: The remote control has a simple design that’s easy to learn. Switching inputs is a breeze. It controls up to four devices but I must admit that I wasn't able to program my satellite receiver so believe the multi-control function to be limited.

Features: This TV has an abundance of features consisting from advanced picture settings, to labeling over-the-air channels, to V-Chip controls. But, the one feature it didn’t have that could be a deal breaker is Picture-in-Picture.

Image on the Television: The panel is very nice. It has the 3rd generation of Toshiba’s PixelPure picture enhancement technology. The 2008 models have the 4th generation, which is essentially a carryover from the 3rd generation.

It monitors incoming signals and makes them better. In my opinion, the effect of this technology is more noticeable on non-HD images. When compared to Toshiba’s entry-level 32AV500U 32” LCD TV, the 32HL67 has a superior picture. So, paying a little more for the REGZA line is worth it.

Colors are bright. Motion is reproduced accurately without a noticeable trail. I was impressed with the detail and colors when first viewing the XBOX360 through the ColorStream component inputs. It appeared improved over other models I’ve reviewed.
