Model: KDL-40V2500
Type of TV: LCD Flat Panel
Screen Size: 40"
Year Bought: 2007
Cost: $1800
Extended Warranty Bought: No
Likes: Excellent picture quality. Sharpness, color reproduction, definition, contrast, deep blacks and shadow detail are perfect. Surprisingly good audio quality from built-in speakers. Great remote with big buttons. Fantasic, tank-like build quality. This will last for years.
Dislikes: It only has two HDMI inputs. The upscaler chip is inadequate - only use with an upscaling DVD player. Menus can be confusing. I have trouble saving settings. Cyclical rather than direct source selection - forget using a universal remote unless you have an AV receiver.
Why I Chose This Model: Sony quality, blacks, color reproduction and 1080p.
Would I Buy It Again: Yes, given the same selection I had when I bought it I would make the same purchase again. Presented with the new W series, I might reconsider. This TV is more than most people need, but if you want a more stylish case design and can afford to pay the premium you might want to go with the flagship KBR series instead - even though there is no real difference in picture quality.
