Likes: This set has a beautiful picture - color is bright and well-balanced. The split screen feature works perfectly.
Dislikes: Since purchasing this set I have found out that this type TV has problems that others don't. I purchased the set 12/06/2006 and started having problems with it shutting down due to heat in June of 2007. After checking on the internet, I found out that a lot of customers are having the same problem. Mitsubishi had a tech come out and fix a known problem with Thermistor.
Then, in August, the lamp burned out. A new lamp was sent to me under warranty, but I had to install it. I found out that the lamp failure is something that is built into this type of set. They will cost approx $250.00 each just for the lamp when the warranty expires.
They are expected to last for 10 to 15 months of average TV use, whatever that is. I would not have purchased this set if I had known about the lamp situation. Plasma and LCD type TVs don't have the lamp problem.
Why I Chose This Model: I was replacing a Mitsubishi rear projection that had served me well for 15 years. It also had split screen, which I use for watching multilple football games. The set looked good in the store.
Would I Buy It Again: No, I don't look forward to having to purchase a replacement lamp every year for $250.00!!!
