TV manufacturers can push 3D TV all they want, but it's not going to take off unless we see a demand from consumers. I still don't know how the 3D game is going to play out, but I think Panasonic's and LG's decision to add Skype to their Internet-enabled TVs will have consumers drooling. After all, people love Skype because it lets them make free video calls to friends, relations and business clients all over the world. Just imagine how great those calls will look on a 55" TV.
Panasonic showed a demo of one of its Skype-enabled sets at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, and I was impressed. So impressed that I don't think I would buy an Internet-enabled TV without Skype as an option.
