TV2ART is the brainchild and collaborative effort of artists
Daniel Goldstein and John Kapellas. Essentially, it is an add-on to any flat panel television that is, according to TV2ART, "changing the way the world experiences television."
Goldstein and Kapellas are both decorated artists based in the San Francisco area.

What is TV2ART?:
TV2ART is a film-like screen that looks a lot like an x-ray film. The screen is black with a design etched into it. The screen sticks to the frame of a flat panel screen and when the viewer turns the TV on, the TV2ART screen turns into a design of moving colors.
Why TV2ART?:
The TV2ART Web site says, "The very act of watching TV2ART is collaborative. Because TV2ART blocks out most of the content and leaves only abstract areas of moving light and color, the viewers creative processes are engaged."
Basically, the screen is a room enhancer for when the TV isn't being watched. I believe the premise is to create an alternative use for the flat panel and turn it into a modern art piece.
Who benefits from TV2ART?:
Actually, TV2ART has a purpose as portions of the profits will help fund non-profit organizations "supporting public school art programs and those that serve people living with HIV/AIDS."
More specifically, proceeds will benefit 'Under One Roof' and 'Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)'.
