LCD: Liquid Crystal Display utilizes white light passed through tiny cells filled with liquid crystal. A pixel is comprised of three cells – one red, one blue, and one green. An electrical charge manipulates the cells, thus creating the intensity of each color. LCD’s are thin, light, and boasts a bright, colorful picture. LCD’s come in flat screen or floor models. Burn-in is not a factor.

LCOS: Liquid Crystal on Silicon is the newest technology for projection TV’s. LCOS televisions come in two styles, one-chip and three-chip. The chips act much like digital video cameras. In one-chip models, red, green, and blue colors are produced by one chip allocating space for red, blue, and green while three-chip models use one chip for red, one chip for green, and one chip for blue. LCOS rear projection televisions are thin and not at risk for burn-in.
