Freemont, California-based consumer electronics manufacturer CyberHome debuted its Under-Cabinet Mount Entertainment Center that Converts to a Portable Unit in late-2005. The LAP-9100 is a TV-DVD player combo that features a 9 LCD screen that can detach to become a portable DVD player. It is expected to be for sale beginning in January 2006 for a suggested retail price of $349.
The LAP-9100 is an analog TV, which means it is not HD-ready. Furthermore, it won't be able to display digital TV signals without an external digital-to-analog converter. However, it has a built-in cable tuner, which means it is compatible with a regular cable signal. It has an auto scan feature that will help determine viewable channels. The screen is a 16:9 (widescreen) TFT LCD panel. The DVD player is trayless, which is like most car CD players. The panel has a one-button release from the base to become portable.
