Owned and operated by cable premium programming giant iN Demand Networks, INHD and INHD2 debuted on September 15, 2003. They are available in markets serviced by cable providers Adelphia, Bright House, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox, and Time Warner. Thus, they are the largest HD networks on cable with a subscriber base of two million and growing.

While INHD and INHD2 share some content, each channel has a signature. INHD shows more sports programming, INHD2 shows more entertainment programming.

Review of Programming

With 24/7 of nothing but HD-quality content airing on two channels, the most proud of channel surfers would be hard pressed to flip past INHD and INHD2.

The allure of these stations is as much in their variety as in quality of presentation. Not only can viewers watch programming in 1080i, but content highlights include the first HD footage captured of Mount Everest, live concerts of music's biggest stars and a weekly double-feature of IMAX movies.

There is also enough sports programming to rival ESPN and Fox Sports. INHD shows three HD Major League Baseball games a week, boxing, poker and guided HD tours featuring some of the world's most-revered golf courses and sports stadiums. Alternative sports is also featured, like skateboarding and K1 fighting.

INHD and INHD2 also show a variety of movies from The Princess Bride to Juice to The Philadelphia Experiment. They also have a rich stable of original content including but not limited to:

  • In Theaters - a weekly program covering the latest in the film industry
  • Go! - a program highlighting modes of transportation that have reached 'cult status' (cars, motorcycles, yachts, etc)
  • INHD Extreme - featuring X-Games-style competition coupled live music from alternative bands

The Bottom Line

INHD and INHD2 is the best example of the high definition theory as far as television programming is considered. While they are not pay-per-view channels, INHD and INHD2 are also not free. People able to receive these channels will have to subscribe to their cable provider's HD package in order to watch these vibrant channels. Still, it is worth the small monthly fee because INHD and INHD2 definitely epitomize the riches of high definition programming.

Unfortunately for satellite subscribers, INHD and INHD2 are not available on DISH Network or DirecTV.

The bottom line is that these channels rock!
