Guide Review - Monster Cable•it Cable Management Kit
Inside the box you get the zipper tool and a length of plastic binding comb, which is similar in appearance to plastic binding on a notebook only bigger. The plastic binding is also customizable for your specific project.
The installation process is easy, which is demonstrated beautifully in an online video available on Monster's website. (visit website) Here's the short version if the installation process:
- group your cables
- insert the cables into the zipper tool
- lock the zipper tool
- connect the plastic binding to the zipper tool
- pull zipper tool down the line of plastic binding
My Take on Monster's Cable•it I've seen this product many times in stores and every time I wonder why someone didn't come out with this sooner. It really is an ingenious design. Simple yet effective, like a Beatles song.
The only downside I see with this product is when adding a new component to your cable cluster. I believe you'll have to redo the entire Cable•it configuration, which means pull all cables out and zip everything again.
On the other hand, you can remove any length of cable from the completed design without an issue. This is important because I doubt many people will be able to have all cables sealed with the exact length of plastic. A DVD player is probably a foot or two away from the TV and the receiver is likely the same distance. So, that flexibility is important.
I believe the Cable•it will solve most, if not all, cable clusters behind your HDTV. It's also a great gift idea because most people probably hate the mess of cables they have. It's not expensive and it's highly useful.
