Now, don’t confuse a splitter with a switcher. They are different devices.
A switcher is a device that allows you to connect two components to one display; a splitter sends one signal to two displays.
Why would you want a splitter?
- Connect one digital cable box or satellite receiver with HDMI out to a TV in two different rooms
- Same as number 1 but with a DVD player
- Connect a PSP3 to two different TVs – this could be fun for multi-player games
- Connect two displays in a business setting to a single HDMI source
UltraAV Key Specifications
- Supports HD signals up to 1080p
- Works with the PlayStation3
- HDMI 1.2a compliant
- HDCP compliant
The HDMI compatibility is a slight downer because it is HDMI 1.2a, not HDMI 1.3. Though, the lack of HDMI 1.3 compatibility isn't a deal-breaker for me because I think we'll have a difficult time noticing the difference between the two.
My Observations
What else should it do?
The UltraAV runs on AC power so it will plug into a standard wall outlet. A power cable is included with the package. Accell offers a 1-year replacement warranty on the UltraAV.
