Term of the Week: Off-Air HDTV Antenna

Monday October 24, 2005
An off-air HDTV antenna is very important because the United States is only a couple of years away from an all-digital television landscape. This means that anything analog will not work without some sort of digital-to-analog converter. This is more of background as a digital-to-analog converter really has nothing to do with an off-air HDTV antenna. But a lot of people reading this will consider the purchase of a digital television because they want to be inline when the USA goes all-digital. Therefore, an off-air HDTV antenna will be a possible purchase for some. So, what is an off-air HDTV antenna? Learn More

My Thoughts: I think anyone that relies on cable or satellite needs to have an antenna as a safety net. As a satellite subscriber, I am reminded way too often during inclimate weather why I need an antenna. Simply stated, the signal fails so much to the point where I can't rely on it. A fringe benefit of owning an off-air HDTV antenna, I can now watch my local TV stations in HD.
