Although Panasonic is considered one of the world's top TV manufacturers in terms of quality, the company's TV operation has been losing money. A good article from Business Week says that may be about to change, and one thing the company is counting on is sales of 3D TVs.
The article notes that aggressive industry-wide manufacture of LCD TVs may continue to drive television prices down. That's good news for consumers but not such a bright spot for a company that's already losing money on its televisions. The emergence of 3D TV can help, I'm guessing, because the 3D option is included primarily on more expensive, high-end sets.
Now, we just have to wait and see if consumers embrace the electronics industry's push for 3D. We should know soon enough, as several major manufacturers are getting ready to push their 3D sets out to retailers.
