Energy Star 3.0 Specification

Those of you interested in conserving energy might want to read Energy Star's 3.0 program requirements for televisions. (read Energy Star PDF)

The interesting thing about the 3.0 standard is that there isn't any grandfathering, so all manufacturers will have to comply in order to receive the Energy Star rating. September 1, 2010, is the date 3.0 is scheduled to come into full effect.

Some manufacturers are already producing televisions that meet or exceed the 3.0 rating. The Pioneer KURO PDP-6020FD is one model that already meets 3.0 requirements. (read review) JVC announced earlier today a line of televisions that exceed the new 3.0 standard by up to 60%. (read press release)
