Comparing LCD and Plasma Flat Panel HDTVs

From Matthew Torres, About.com GuideSeptember 30, 2008

I sat around the house last night thinking about differences and similarities of LCD and plasma televisions.

It's not a comprehensive list because there is always something different between specific models but I believe that this will give TV buyers a snapshot of these TV types and how they perform in the real world.

As always, I'm interested in your thoughts about this topic. Submit a Comment

having watched both lcd and plasma, i was really turned off by motion on the lcd. and i like the picture of the plasma which is best at any angle over lcd. i won’t consider an lcd for movies, games or anything but the computer. one of the best plasma tv’s i’ve seen so far is the runco plasmas.

I recently purchased a 50″ Samsung plasma. Picture quality and viewing angles are great and the ability to see rapid motion is excellent.
It give off more heat than my previous lcd and I presume this means that it uses more energy.
