Using a VCR and DTV Converter Box

I've been asked several times over the past week about recording TV signals from a DTV converter box on a VCR. After I did some research I realized that this is a rather simple answer within a complex situation.
What I mean by complex is that the typical VCR to TV relationship is permanently altered when adding a DTV converter box to the mix. There are several conditions you must meet in order to use the VCR. There are also some limitations.
