Buying Tip: Anti-Glare Screens

Tuesday August 7, 2007
I received an email from someone yesterday inquiring about the validity of anti-glare screens on a 50" high definition television (HDTV). These are items that are similar to the anti-glare glass you can buy at a picture framing store.

With respect to large televisions, I believe anti-glare screens can be very beneficial to the TV experience, especially if the unit is going in a room with a lot of light albeit natural or artificial. Keep in mind that anti-glare screens are usually an add-on option for many TVs and the cost can exceed $200 for one.

However, some products already have an anti-glare screen built into the unit and price so that might be something to consider when pricing televisions.
