Hide Cables When Mounting A Flat Panel HDTV

From Matthew Torres, About.com GuideJuly 23, 2007

The premise behind the 'Wiring Solution' is easy home theater. Instead of drilling holes in the wall to hide audio/video wires, a person can camouflage their AV cables on the front side of the wall.

This is possible because the Wiring Solution is made of plaster and medium density fiberboard. This material is typical of most living room walls. The backside is hollowed out with two vertical channels that have a plastic wire retainer that holds the AV cables in place. Each channel is large enough to hold up to five insulated wires.

My Thoughts: I remember being at a friend's house a few years ago and seeing a homemade version of something similar. This is a great option for apartment living or for someone that wants to hide their A/V cables but doesn't want to run them inside the wall.

I just found a web sight that specializes in this type of product. cabletiesandmore.com They have a good photo of the product painted and in use. It really does not look to bad. I may do this way with my install.
