Discussion: Will You Pay For TV on Your Cell Phone?

From Matthew Torres, About.com GuideMay 7, 2007

I lost my cell phone over the weekend. It was bound to happen. I took the phone out of my pocket while playing pool to avoid cracking the glass display panel and forgot it when paying the tab. So, the next day I went to the pool hall and they couldn't find the phone. Therefore, I was forced to buying a new phone at my cell phone company outlet.

While paying for my new phone I noticed my service provider was offering television on the phone for $20 a month. This price seemed a bit much. I asked the clerk what she thought of it and she said it wasn't worth the price. She said the shows were taped and it was quite expensive for the service. She sold me on not paying for that service. Now, I am $240 richer this year since I won't be paying for TV on my cell phone.

What about you?

I guess it would depend on the quality and functions on the cellphone tv for me to make a fair decision.

No Way!! Amazing how we sit at Home and think we have to have a HUGE Scren Size TV there like a movie theater and then we settle in for a chesy 1.5″ screen no better than a good web cam for a goofy Tv show and still have to watch those stupid commercials every 5 minutes, NOT!! Any body out there remember when Cable TV was supposd to be Comercial Free, that what we paid for??? Now look, even the HBO’s Showtimes have their own Personal Commercials for U to waste your time on and enjoy while waiting for the next rerun. Ok, I done , LOL. :-)

I would only pay if the cell TV had a decent selection of programs which included some recent and decent movies, recent and decent music TV, recent and decent sports and current Football. Then and only then I would be prepared to pay something but would also want the cell phone company to have a built in discount that was tied in with my home Cable TV and that provider. So, you cell and TV companies owe me $$$$$$$$$ big time since I just solved the problem and my sysstem should make you millions. I hope the check is in my mail asap. Better yet call me for a new and better job. I am a Wizzard. Bye 4 now! Gary

Why?? Screen is so small, I can barely read the info. on it for the Phone. Number I am dialing, CID, Time, etc. Why would I waste money for TV on my Phone? When I want to watch TV I stay home and Watch the Normal Big Screen TV. I don’t think this is going to go over.

I would think by the time you watched a show, your battery would be dead on your phone–so you would not be able to make any calls, which is what you have a cell phone for!!
