Sharp Unveils Two Way LCD Screen

Friday July 15, 2005
Sharp Electronics announced the development of a two way LCD screen that is able to show different images on the same screen based on left and right perspectives. Below is a picture demonstrating the technology, courtesy of Sharp Electronics.

Here are some applications Sharp envisions this monitor being useful for:

  • Person watches TV broadcast while another person uses as a computer monitor
  • In a car, driver sees a map, passenger watches a DVD
  • Consumers see different ads depending on direction they walk/drive - could help advertisers reach target audience more effectively

Of course, the possibilities are endless with this type of monitor. According to Yahoo! news, mass production will begin in late-July with it hitting store shelves by the end of the year.
