Digital Television

Thursday March 31, 2005
I received an email the other day from a reader who wondered if they could buy a DVD player that would enhance their television's high definition picture. It's an interesting question that most people want to know the answer to, but the bottom line is that the digital video discs we've been buying for years come in a maximum resolution of 480p, which is essentially enhanced definition.

Therefore, a DVD player would not enhance the high definition signal, but by playing a DVD on a HD television the picture would appear much better than if played on a standard definition digital television.

Does this make sense to you? If not, click this to read a beginner's article explaining the basics of digital television.
